Agriculture at ‘crossroads’, need 2nd Green Revolution
With the agriculture growth expected to be 5.4 per cent in the current financial year, the Survey calls for a second Green Revolution. The survey points out that special attention needs to be given to increasing production of nutrition-rich crops. As the agriculture sector in India is at crossroads, concerted efforts are the need of the hour for addressing the challenge of stagnating productivity.
Banking licence: Two-tier regime recommended
India needs to extend the reach of banking and work towards financial inclusion.The Survey suggests options for issuing licences — one for providing basic banking and the other for full banking.
Need persistence with anti-inflationary monetary stance With inflation management being on the top of the government’s agenda, the need of the hour, the survey says, is “persistence with an anti-inflationary monetary stance.”
